- Oral tablets 150 mg
- Oral tablets 300 mg
Adult Dosing
- Peptic ulcer disease / Gastroesophageal reflux disease: 300 mg once daily at bedtime or 150 mg twice daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not established
Indications
- Duodenal ulcer
- Gastric ulcer
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Mechanism of Action
- Competitive histamine H2-receptor antagonist that inhibits gastric acid secretion and pepsin output
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to niperotidine or other H2-receptor antagonists
- History of drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions
Adverse Reactions
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Mild transient elevations in serum transaminases
- Fatigue
Drug Interactions
- Drugs requiring acidic gastric pH for absorption (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole)
- Minimal cytochrome P450 interactions compared to cimetidine
