Forms & Strengths
- Oral powder for solution: 13.125g/sachet
- Oral powder for solution: 26.25g/sachet
- Capsules: 500mg
Adult Dosing
- 1-2 sachets (13.125-26.25g) once daily
- 1-2 capsules (500mg) 1-3 times daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Children over 6 months: 1-2 sachets (13.125-26.25g) once daily
- Under 6 months or children with renal impairment: use with caution and under medical supervision
Indications
- Treatment of constipation
- Treatment of fecal impaction
- Bowel preparation before radiological or endoscopic examinations
Mechanism of Action
- Osmotic laxative
- Increases stool water content
- Stimulates intestinal peristalsis
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to macrogol or any excipients
- Intestinal obstruction or perforation
- Ileus
Adverse Reactions
- Gastrointestinal cramps
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Bloating and gas
Drug Interactions
- Reduced absorption of concomitantly administered drugs
- Interaction with stimulant laxatives: increased risk of electrolyte imbalance
- Interaction with antacids: reduced efficacy of macrogol
