Forms & Strengths
- Solution for injection 100 units/mL
- Prefilled pen 100 units/mL
- Vial 100 units/mL
- FlexTouch pen 100 units/mL
Adult Dosing
- 0.5-1 unit/kg/day, divided into 3-4 doses
- Administer 5-10 minutes before meals
- Titrate dose based on blood glucose levels
Pediatric Dosing
- 0.5-1 unit/kg/day, divided into 3-4 doses for children 6 years and older
- 0.2-0.8 units/kg/day, divided into 2-3 doses for children under 6 years
- Titrate dose based on blood glucose levels and weight
Indications
- Diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2
- Hyperkalemia
- Hyperglycemia
Mechanism of Action
- Rapid-acting insulin analogue
- Binds to insulin receptors on cells
- Stimulates glucose uptake, inhibits glucose production
Contraindications
- Hypoglycemia
- Hypersensitivity to insulin aspart or excipients

- Weight gain
- Lipodystrophy
- Injection site reactions
- Allergic reactions
Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of hypoglycemia with beta-blockers, MAOIs, and salicylates
- Decreased efficacy with thiazides, corticosteroids, and oral contraceptives
