Forms & Strengths
- Solution for injection: 30 mg/3 mL
Adult Dosing
- 30 mg subcutaneously, may repeat at 6 hour intervals as needed
Pediatric Dosing
- For patients 2-16 years, 30 mg subcutaneously; not studied in pediatric patients under 2 years
Indications
- Treatment of acute attacks of hereditary angioedema
Mechanism of Action
- Selective bradykinin B2 receptor antagonist
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to icatibant
Adverse Reactions
- Injection site reactions, rash, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, headache, flushing
Drug Interactions
- No well-documented interactions; caution with ACE inhibitors due to theoretical risk of enhanced bradykinin effect
