Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 0.1mg, 0.2mg
- Injection: 0.1mg/mL
Adult Dosing
- Oral: 0.1-0.3mg daily
- IV: 0.1-0.25mg slowly over 5min
- Maintenance: 0.1-0.25mg daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Neonates (0-1 month): 0.015-0.03mg/kg IV slowly
- Infants (1-12 months): 0.02-0.04mg/kg IV slowly
- Children (1-12 years): 0.025-0.06mg/kg IV slowly
Indications
- Heart failure
- Atrial fibrillation
- Atrial flutter
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibits Na+/K+-ATPase pump
- Increases intracellular calcium
- Enhances cardiac contraction
Contraindications
- Ventricular fibrillation
- Hypersensitivity to digoxin
- AV block
Adverse Reactions
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Confusion
Drug Interactions
- Beta blockers: increased risk of bradycardia
- Calcium channel blockers: increased risk of arrhythmias
- Quinidine: increased risk of digoxin toxicity
