Forms & Strengths
- 10mg tablets
- 20mg tablets
- 40mg tablets
Adult Dosing
- Initial dose: 10mg orally twice daily
- Maintenance dose: 20-40mg orally twice daily
- Maximum dose: 80mg orally per day
Pediatric Dosing
- Not recommended for children under 18 years old
- Dosage has not been established for pediatric patients
Indications
- Treatment of angina pectoris
- Treatment of hypertension
Mechanism of Action
- Blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors
- Dilates peripheral blood vessels
- Decreases peripheral vascular resistance
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tenitramine or its components
- Severe renal impairment
- Severe hepatic impairment
Adverse Reactions
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Orthostatic hypotension
- Nausea
Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with beta blockers may increase risk of hypotension
- Concomitant use with diuretics may increase risk of orthostatic hypotension
- Concomitant use with MAOIs may increase risk of hypertensive crisis
