Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, 50mg
- Injectable solution: 10mg/2mL
Adult Dosing
- Initial dose: 25-50mg orally once daily
- Maintenance dose: 25-100mg orally once daily
- Maximum dose: 200mg orally once daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients
- Consult a specialist for pediatric use
Indications
- Treatment of angina pectoris
- Hypertension management
- Raynaud's phenomenon
Mechanism of Action
- Selectively inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle
- Dilates peripheral and coronary blood vessels
- Reduces cardiac afterload and oxygen demand
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cinepazet or other calcium channel blockers
- Severe left ventricular dysfunction
- Symptomatic heart failure
Adverse Reactions
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Peripheral edema
- Hypotension
Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with beta blockers: increased risk of hypotension and cardiac depression
- Concomitant use with nitrates: increased risk of hypotension
- Concomitant use with ciclosporin: increased serum levels of ciclosporin
