Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 30mg, 60mg
- Injectable solution: 20mg/2mL, 40mg/4mL
Adult Dosing
- Peripheral vasodilation: 30-60mg orally, 2-3 times a day
- Cerebral vasodilation: 20-40mg IV, 2-3 times a day
Pediatric Dosing
- Not established for children under 12 years old
- 12-18 years old: Use with caution, dose reduction may be necessary
Indications
- Treatment of chronic peripheral circulatory disorders
- Cerebral vasodilation for cerebrovascular disorders
- Treatment of Raynaud's disease
Mechanism of Action
- Selective blockade of alpha-2 adrenergic receptors
- Indirect activation of serotonin receptors
- Increase in cellular cAMP levels
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to vinburnine or its excipients
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Severe coronary artery disease
Adverse Reactions
- Gastrointestinal disturbances: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Headache, dizziness, and lightheadedness
- Hypotension, orthostatic hypotension
Drug Interactions
- Increased hypotension with other vasodilators and antihypertensives
- Potential interaction with MAOIs and SSRIs
- Avoid concurrent use with ergot alkaloids
