Forms & Strengths
- Extended-release tablets: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg
- Immediate-release tablets: 5mg, 10mg
Adult Dosing
- Initial dose: 5mg once daily
- Titration: 2.5mg to 10mg once daily
- Maximum dose: 10mg once daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients
- Use with caution in children, due to limited clinical data
Indications
- Hypertension
- Angina pectoris
Mechanism of Action
- Calcium channel blocker
- Inhibits L-type calcium channels
- Relaxes vascular smooth muscle
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to felodipine
- Severe aortic stenosis
- Unstable angina
Adverse Reactions
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Flushing
- Peripheral edema
- Nausea
Drug Interactions
- CYP3A4 inhibitors: increased felodipine levels
- Beta-blockers: increased risk of hypotension
- Nitrates: increased risk of hypotension
