Forms & Strengths
- Concentrate for IV infusion 0.5 mg/mL
- Ready-to-use IV infusion 0.5 mg/mL
Adult Dosing
- Initial dose 1-2 mg/hour
- Titrate by 0.5-1 mg/hour every 5-10 minutes as needed
- Maximum dose 32 mg/hour
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in patients less than 18 years old
Indications
- Perioperative tachycardia and hypertension
- Hypertension in critically ill patients
Mechanism of Action
- Selective L-type calcium channel blocker
- Decreases myocardial contractility and vascular smooth muscle tone
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to clevidipine or other dihydropyridines
- Defective lipid metabolism such as pathologic hyperlipidemia
- Severe aortic stenosis
Adverse Reactions
- Headache
- Nausea
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
- Atrial fibrillation
Drug Interactions
- Anesthetic agents may increase hypotensive effects
- Nitroglycerin may increase hypotensive effects
- Beta blockers may increase risk of hypotension and bradycardia
