Forms & Strengths
- Topical cream 1%
- Topical solution 1%
Adult Dosing
- Apply to affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily
- Duration of treatment typically 2 to 4 weeks
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not established
Indications
- Treatment of superficial fungal skin infections
- Tinea pedis, tinea cruris, and tinea corporis
Mechanism of Action
- Antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds
- Alters fungal cell membrane permeability and disrupts cellular metabolism
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to chlorphenesin or any component of the formulation
- Ophthalmic use
Adverse Reactions
- Local skin irritation
- Erythema
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation at application site
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions expected due to minimal percutaneous absorption
- Avoid concurrent use of other topical agents on the same skin area unless directed
