Forms & Strengths
- Topical ointment 1%
- Topical powder 1%
Adult Dosing
- Apply thin layer to affected skin areas 1-2 times daily
- Duration of therapy typically 2-4 weeks to prevent relapse
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not thoroughly established
- Use with caution in children if prescribed by a physician
Indications
- Treatment of superficial dermatophyte infections
- Cutaneous candidiasis
- Tinea versicolor
Mechanism of Action
- Antifungal agent with broad-spectrum activity against dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds
- Inhibits fungal cell membrane synthesis and disrupts cellular metabolism
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to sulbentine or any component of the formulation
- Do not use in or near the eyes or mucous membranes
Adverse Reactions
- Local skin irritation
- Erythema
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation at application site
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions expected due to minimal percutaneous absorption
- Avoid concurrent application of other topical agents on the exact same site unless directed by physician
