Forms & Strengths
- Topical cream 1%
- Topical solution 1%
Adult Dosing
- Tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, tinea manuum: Apply to affected areas twice daily for 2 to 3 weeks.
- Tinea versicolor: Apply twice daily for 2 to 3 weeks.
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established.
- Use in children is generally not recommended or requires careful clinical supervision.
Indications
- Topical treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin
- Effective against Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum, and Malassezia furfur
Mechanism of Action
- Synthetic antifungal ether compound
- Exerts fungicidal or fungistatic activity by inhibiting fungal cell membrane synthesis and disrupting transport processes
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to haloprogin or any component of the formulation
- Not for ophthalmic use
Adverse Reactions
- Local irritation
- Burning sensation
- Vesiculation
- Erythema
- Pruritus
- Maceration
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions identified due to minimal percutaneous absorption
- Avoid simultaneous use of other topical agents on the same skin area unless directed by a clinician
