Forms & Strengths
- Cream 1%
- Solution 1%
- Tablet 200mg
Adult Dosing
- Apply 1% topical solution or cream bid for 4 weeks
- Oral: 200mg bid for 4 weeks
Pediatric Dosing
- Children > 12 years: Apply 1% topical solution or cream bid for 4 weeks
- Children < 12 years: not established
Indications
- Dermatophyte infections
- Cutaneous candidiasis
- Pityriasis versicolor
Mechanism of Action
- Interferes with fungal cell membrane synthesis
- Inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dimazole or imidazoles
- Pregnancy (first trimester)
Adverse Reactions
- Pruritus
- Erythema
- Burning sensation
- Gastrointestinal disturbance (oral formulation)
Drug Interactions
- CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase dimazole plasma levels
- Concomitant use with astemizole or terfenadine is contraindicated
