Forms & Strengths
- Topical solution 1%
- Topical cream 1%
- Topical powder 1%
Adult Dosing
- Apply to affected skin areas twice daily for 2 to 4 weeks
- Continue treatment for at least 2 weeks after symptoms disappear to prevent relapse
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below 12 years are not extensively established
- Use with caution in children if clinically indicated
Indications
- Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
- Tinea cruris (jock itch)
- Tinea corporis (ringworm)
- Pityriasis versicolor
Mechanism of Action
- Synthetic thiocarbamate antifungal agent
- Inhibits fungal squalene epoxidase, leading to ergosterol deficiency and fungal cell lysis
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tolciclate or other thiocarbamates
- Application to mucous membranes or ophthalmic use
Adverse Reactions
- Local skin irritation
- Erythema
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation at application site
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions reported due to minimal percutaneous absorption
- Avoid simultaneous application of other topical agents on the same site to prevent interaction
