Adult Dosing
- Onychomycosis of toenails: Apply to affected toenail(s) once daily for 48 weeks
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients under 6 years of age
- Pediatric patients 6 years and older: Same as adult dosing for toenail onychomycosis
Indications
- Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenails due to Trichophyton rubrum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes
Mechanism of Action
- Oxaborole antifungal agent that inhibits fungal protein synthesis
- Acts by inhibiting fungal leucyl-tRNA synthetase (LeuRS)
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tavaborole or any component of the formulation
Adverse Reactions
- Application site exfoliation
- Ingrown toenail
- Application site erythema
- Application site dermatitis
Drug Interactions
- No formal drug interaction studies have been conducted
- Systemic absorption is minimal, making significant systemic drug interactions unlikely
