Indications
- Relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses
Mechanism of Action
- High-potency synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid
- Induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins), controlling biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation
- Decreases inflammation, relieves pruritus, and constricts blood vessels

- Erythema, folliculitis, and hypertrichosis
- Hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, and allergic contact dermatitis
- Skin atrophy, striae, and miliary changes with prolonged use
- Systemic toxicity including HPA axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, and hyperglycemia with prolonged use or occlusion
Drug Interactions
- No formal drug interaction studies performed
- Concomitant use of other systemic or topical corticosteroids may increase the risk of systemic adverse effects and HPA axis suppression
