Forms & Strengths
- Cream: fluocortolone 0.5mg, neomycin 3.5mg, polymyxin B 5000U/g
- Ointment: fluocortolone 0.5mg, neomycin 3.5mg, polymyxin B 5000U/g
Adult Dosing
- Apply 1-3 times daily
- Topical application, thin layer, to affected areas
- Maximum 4 weeks of continuous use
Pediatric Dosing
- Avoid use in children under 2 years old
- Apply 1-2 times daily for children 2-12 years old
- Use for shortest duration necessary
Indications
- Inflammatory skin conditions
- Eczema
- Dermatitis
- Pruritus
- Skin allergies with bacterial infections
Mechanism of Action
- Fluocortolone: anti-inflammatory corticosteroid
- Neomycin and polymyxin B: bactericidal antibiotics
- Reduces inflammation, prevents infection
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to fluocortolone, neomycin, or polymyxin B
- Impaired skin barrier (e.g., ulcers, wounds)
- Viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, varicella)
- Tuberculosis of the skin
Adverse Reactions
- Skin atrophy
- Telangiectasia
- Hypopigmentation
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Otomycosis with neomycin
Drug Interactions
- Avoid concurrent use with other corticosteroids
- Interactions with other topical products (e.g., salicylic acid) may increase side effects
