Forms & Strengths
- Topical cream 0.05%
- Topical ointment 0.05%
Adult Dosing
- Apply a thin layer to affected area 2-3 times a day
- Not to exceed 50g per week
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in children under 18 years
- Use with caution in adolescents
Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of pruritus
- Atopic dermatitis
- Contact dermatitis
Mechanism of Action
- Antihistamine
- Anticholinergic properties
- Mast cell stabilizer
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to xenysalate or any component
- Narrow-angle glaucoma
- Urinary retention
Adverse Reactions
- Local irritation
- Allergic contact dermatitis
- Burning or stinging sensation
- Dryness
- Pruritus
Drug Interactions
- Sedating antihistamines may increase sedative effects
- MAOIs may increase anticholinergic effects
- Tricyclic antidepressants may increase anticholinergic effects
