- Broad-spectrum, synthetic antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, and Malassezia furfur.
- Chelates trivalent metal cations (such as Fe3+ and Al3+), resulting in the inhibition of metal-dependent enzymes (e.g., cytochromes and peroxidases) within the fungal cell.
- Alters fungal cell membrane permeability, leading to the disruption of intracellular synthesis of proteins, RNA, and DNA.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ciclopirox or any of the components in the formulation.
Adverse Reactions
- Pruritus at the application site
- Burning, stinging, or erythema at the application site
- Worsening of clinical condition / skin irritation
