Adult Dosing
- 0.5 mg orally once daily
- No dose adjustment needed for renal impairment
- No dose adjustment needed for mild to moderate hepatic impairment
Pediatric Dosing
- Not indicated for use in pediatric patients
Indications
- Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
- Reduction of risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women
Mechanism of Action
- Selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM)
- Binds to estrogen receptors, mimicking some effects of estrogen
- Inhibits bone resorption, increases bone density
Contraindications
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Active or past history of venous thromboembolic events
- Hypersensitivity to lasofoxifene
Adverse Reactions
- Venous thromboembolic events
- Hot flashes
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis
- Headache
- Arthralgia
- Myalgia
Drug Interactions
- Co-administration with warfarin may increase INR
- Co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase lasofoxifene exposure
