Adult Dosing
- Community-acquired pneumonia and other indicated respiratory infections: 75 mg orally once daily for 7 days
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- Treatment of community-acquired pneumonia and respiratory infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria
Mechanism of Action
- Fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and transcription
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lascufloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics
- History of fluoroquinolone-associated tendinopathy
- Pregnancy and lactation
Adverse Reactions
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Headache
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture
- QT prolongation
Drug Interactions
- Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum decrease absorption
- Coadministration with NSAIDs may increase the risk of CNS stimulation and seizures
- May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin
