Forms & Strengths
- Single-dose vial of 500mg powder for injection
- Reconstituted solution for intravenous administration
Adult Dosing
- 1500mg as a single dose for ABSSSI
- 1000mg on Day 1, followed by 500mg on Day 8 for ABSSSI
Pediatric Dosing
- No established pediatric dosing recommendations
Indications
- Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by susceptible Gram-positive microorganisms
- Treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to the D-alanyl-D-alanine terminus of cell wall precursors
- Interferes with transglycosylation and transpeptidation reactions
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dalbavancin or other glycopeptide antibacterial agents
- Vancomycin hypersensitivity due to cross-reactivity
Adverse Reactions
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Rash
- Pruritus
- Headache
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Infusion-related reactions
Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with medications that prolong QT interval may increase risk of torsades de pointes
- Interference with coagulation tests (e.g., PT, INR, aPTT)
