Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 30mg
- Oral solution: 30mg/10mL
Adult Dosing
- 20-30mg orally once daily
- Dose adjustment required for renal impairment
- Dose reduction for patients with CrCl <50mL/min
Pediatric Dosing
- Not recommended for children <18 years
- Dosage has not been established for pediatric patients
Indications
- Treatment of chronic hepatitis B
- Monoinfection or coinfection with hepatitis C or D
- Compensated liver disease
Mechanism of Action
- Nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor
- Inhibits viral DNA polymerase
- Prevents viral replication
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to clevudine
- Lactation
- Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30mL/min)
Adverse Reactions
- Myopathy
- Lactic acidosis
- Hepatic steatosis
- Fatigue
- Headache
Drug Interactions
- Ribavirin: increases risk of myopathy and lactic acidosis
- NRTIs: increases risk of myopathy and lactic acidosis
- HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors: increases risk of myopathy
