Adult Dosing
- Take 1 tablet orally once daily with or without food
- Recommended dose in combination with grazoprevir for 12 weeks
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in patients under 18 years
Indications
- Treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 or 4 infection
- In combination with grazoprevir for patients without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis
Mechanism of Action
- Elbasvir is a NS5A inhibitor that interferes with HCV viral replication
- Grazoprevir is a protease inhibitor that inhibits the HCV NS3/4A protease
Contraindications
- Concomitant use with atazanavir, lopinavir, darunavir, efavirenz, and certain other medications
- Hypersensitivity to elbasvir or grazoprevir
Adverse Reactions
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
Drug Interactions
- Antacids and H2-receptor antagonists may decrease elbasvir and grazoprevir bioavailability
- Rifampin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, and St. John’s Wort may decrease elbasvir and grazoprevir effectiveness
