Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 200mg emtricitabine, 25mg tenofovir alafenamide, 50mg bictegravir
- Fixed-dose combination
Adult Dosing
- 1 tablet orally once daily
- Can be taken with or without food
- No dose adjustment needed for renal impairment
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in patients <18 years
- Use not recommended in pediatric patients due to limited data
Indications
- Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults
- Used in combination with other antiretroviral agents
Mechanism of Action
- Emtricitabine: nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor
- Tenofovir alafenamide: nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor
- Bictegravir: integrase strand transfer inhibitor
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to emtricitabine, tenofovir alafenamide, or bictegravir
- Concomitant use with dofetilide
Adverse Reactions
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Abdominal pain
- Dizziness
Drug Interactions
- Do not coadminister with rifampin, rifabutin, or St. John's Wort
- Use with caution and monitor with carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital
- Not recommended with sorbitol-containing products
