Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 200mg
- Suspension: 100mg/5mL
- Injectable solution: 200mg/mL
Adult Dosing
- Prophylaxis: 200mg twice daily
- Treatment: 200mg three times daily for 5-7 days
- Max dose: 600mg/day
Pediatric Dosing
- Children >12 years: use adult dosing
- Children 6-12 years: 100-200mg twice daily
- Children <6 years: not established
Indications
- Influenza A and B prophylaxis
- Treatment of influenza A and B
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibits influenza virus RNA synthesis
- Stops viral replication
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to moroxydine
- Lactation
Adverse Reactions
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Allergic reactions (rare)
Drug Interactions
- Enhanced effects with salicylates and NSAIDs
- Decreased effects with antacids and H2 blockers
- Monitor with theophylline and aminophylline
