Forms & Strengths
- injectable suspension
- intramuscular injection 0.5ml
- lyophilized powder for injection
Adult Dosing
- 1 dose of 0.5ml via intramuscular injection
- booster dose after 4-6 weeks
- immunization schedule may vary based on travel plans
Pediatric Dosing
- not recommended for children under 1 year
- children over 1 year: same dosage as adults
- consult vaccination schedule for specific pediatric recommendations
Indications
- protection against cholera
- protection against typhoid fever
- travel to areas with high risk of cholera and typhoid
Mechanism of Action
- induces immunity against Vibrio cholerae
- induces immunity against Salmonella Typhi
- stimulates production of specific antibodies
Contraindications
- severe allergic reaction to previous vaccination
- acute febrile illness
- known hypersensitivity to any vaccine component
Adverse Reactions
- injection site pain
- redness and swelling at the injection site
- fever
- headache
- fatigue
Drug Interactions
- concomitant administration with immunosuppressive therapy may reduce vaccine efficacy
- use with caution in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
