Adult Dosing
- Typically 1-2 doses, 4-6 weeks apart
- Booster doses may be recommended every 1-3 years
- Dosing may vary depending on vaccine type and risk of exposure
Pediatric Dosing
- Not recommended for children under 1 year
- Children 1-17 years: typically 1-2 doses, 4-6 weeks apart
- Booster doses may be recommended every 1-3 years
Indications
- Prevention of leptospirosis in individuals at high risk of exposure
- Outbreak control in areas with high incidence of leptospirosis
- Travelers to areas with high risk of leptospirosis
Mechanism of Action
- Stimulates production of antibodies against leptospira bacteria
- Induces cell-mediated immunity against leptospira
- Provides immunity against multiple serovars of leptospira
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine
- Severe immune deficiency
- Pregnancy and lactation (limited data available)
Adverse Reactions
- Pain, redness, and swelling at injection site
- Fever, headache, and fatigue
- Allergic reactions (rare)
Drug Interactions
- May interfere with immune response to other vaccines
- Concomitant use with immunosuppressants may reduce efficacy
