- Injection: diphtheria toxoid 10-20 Lf, haemophilus influenzae type b 10-20 mcg, pertussis toxoid 2-5 Lf, tetanus toxoid 5-10 Lf, hepatitis B surface antigen 5-20 mcg per 0.5 mL
- Single-dose vials or syringes
- Preservative-free
Adult Dosing
- Not recommended for adults, only for children under 7 years
- Catch-up vaccination for adults not vaccinated in childhood: 1 dose of Td or Tdap
Pediatric Dosing
- Primary series: 3 doses at 2, 4, and 6-12 months of age
- Booster dose: 1 dose at 12-18 months of age
- Catch-up vaccination for children 7 years and older: 1 dose of Tdap
Indications
- Active immunization against diphtheria, haemophilus influenzae type b, pertussis, tetanus, and hepatitis B infections
- Prevention of diseases caused by these microorganisms in infants and children under 7 years
Mechanism of Action
- Stimulates the production of antibodies against diphtheria, haemophilus influenzae type b, pertussis, tetanus, and hepatitis B
- Provides immunity against these diseases by inducing a cell-mediated immune response
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine or previous dose
- Severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of any vaccine containing diphtheria, haemophilus influenzae type b, pertussis, tetanus, or hepatitis B
- Encephalopathy within 7 days of a previous dose of a pertussis-containing vaccine
Adverse Reactions
- Local reactions: pain, redness, swelling, and induration at the injection site
- Systemic reactions: fever, irritability, crying, and vomiting
- Allergic reactions: anaphylaxis, pruritus, and urticaria
Drug Interactions
- Immunosuppressive therapy: may decrease the immune response to the vaccine
- Other vaccines: may be administered concomitantly, but at a different injection site
