Forms & Strengths
- Mannosulfan is available in 100mg and 500mg lyophilized powder vials for injection
- 10mg/mL concentrate for solution for infusion
Adult Dosing
- The recommended dose of mannosulfan is 60-100mg/m²/day intravenously for 5 days
- Repeat cycles every 4-6 weeks
Pediatric Dosing
- The safety and efficacy of mannosulfan have not been established in pediatric patients
- Dosing in children should be avoided unless benefits outweigh the risks
Indications
- Treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia
- Treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Treatment of certain types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Mechanism of Action
- Mannosulfan is an alkylating agent
- It works by cross-linking DNA strands, thereby preventing DNA replication and ultimately leading to cell death
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to mannosulfan or other alkylating agents
- Severe bone marrow depression
- Pregnancy and lactation
Adverse Reactions
- Myelosuppression
- Nausea and vomiting
- Alopecia
- Skin rash
- Increased risk of infections
Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with other myelosuppressive agents may increase the risk of bone marrow depression
- Interaction with live vaccines may lead to decreased immune response
- Interaction with other alkylating agents may increase the risk of toxicity
