Adult Dosing
- Initial dose: 0.2-0.3 mg/kg/day orally
- Maintenance dose: 0.1-0.2 mg/kg/day orally
Indications
- Chronic myeloid leukemia
- Polycythemia vera
- Essential thrombocytosis
Mechanism of Action
- Alkylating agent
- Interferes with DNA replication
Contraindications
- Severe bone marrow suppression
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
Adverse Reactions
- Myelosuppression
- Gastrointestinal disturbances
- Liver dysfunction
- Pulmonary fibrosis
Drug Interactions
- Enhanced toxicity with other myelosuppressive agents
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants
