- lyophilized powder for injection 10 mg, 20 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg
Adult Dosing
- 20-30 mg/m² IV every 21 days
- 60-90 mg/m² IV every 21-28 days
- 40-75 mg/m² IV every 21-28 days
Pediatric Dosing
- 30-60 mg/m² IV
- 20-30 mg/m² IV every 21-28 days
- 10-30 mg/m² IV every 3-4 weeks

- breast cancer
- ovarian cancer
- lymphoma
- leukemia
- bladder cancer
Mechanism of Action
- intercalates DNA strands
- inhibits topoisomerase II
- induces apoptosis
- free radical formation
Contraindications
- cardiomyopathy
- myocardial infarction
- previous anthracycline therapy
- severe neutropenia
- pregnancy
Adverse Reactions
- myelosuppression
- cardiotoxicity
- alopecia
- nausea and vomiting
- mucositis
Drug Interactions
- cyclophosphamide increased cardiotoxicity
- trastuzumab increased cardiotoxicity
- paclitaxel increased myelosuppression
- verapamil increased doxorubicin levels
- phenytoin decreased doxorubicin levels
