Forms & Strengths
- Tablet: 100mg, 300mg
- Film-coated tablets
Adult Dosing
- 300mg orally once daily
- Dose reduction to 200mg or 100mg for adverse reactions
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established
- Not recommended for use in pediatric patients
Indications
- Treatment of symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer
- Advanced or metastatic disease
Mechanism of Action
- Tyrosine kinase inhibitor
- Inhibits VEGFR, EGFR, RET, and other kinases
- Blocks tumor growth and angiogenesis
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to vandetanib or its components
- QT interval prolongation
Adverse Reactions
- Diarrhea, rash, fatigue, hypertension, nausea
- Cardiovascular events, interstitial lung disease
- Prolonged QT interval
Drug Interactions
- CYP3A4 inhibitors increase vandetanib levels
- CYP3A4 inducers decrease vandetanib levels
- Avoid concomitant use with drugs that prolong QT interval
