Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous solution: 500 mg/10 mL
Adult Dosing
- Recurrent glioblastoma: 500 mg/m² administered as an intravenous infusion over 90 minutes every 4 weeks
- Dose modifications required based on hematologic and hepatic toxicity
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not established
Indications
- Treatment of adult patients with progressive or recurrent glioblastoma
Mechanism of Action
- Synthetic hydroxylated unsaturated fatty acid (minerval)
- Modulates membrane lipid structure and lipid-dependent signaling proteins
- Induces translocation of protein kinase C and promotes tumor cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to 2-hydroxyoleic acid or any excipients
- Severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C)
Adverse Reactions
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
- Elevated transaminases
- Thrombocytopenia
- Neutropenia
- Infusion-related reactions
Drug Interactions
- No formal clinical drug-drug interaction studies performed
- Minimal cytochrome P450 involvement expected, low risk of pharmacokinetic drug interactions
