Forms & Strengths
- Oral capsules 200 mg
- Suppositories 300 mg
- Topical cream 5%
Adult Dosing
- Oral: 200 mg three times daily after meals
- Rectal: 300 mg once or twice daily
- Topical: Apply to affected area 2-3 times daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients
Indications
- Management of pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis
- Treatment of osteoarthritis
- Relief of acute musculoskeletal disorders and soft tissue injuries
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes
- Reduction in the biosynthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins
- Antipyretic and peripheral analgesic activity
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to fentiazac or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment
- History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
Adverse Reactions
- Epigastric pain, nausea, dyspepsia, and heartburn
- Peptic ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding
- Headache, dizziness, and drowsiness
- Skin rashes and hypersensitivity reactions
- Elevated liver transaminases
Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) and antiplatelet agents
- Enhanced nephrotoxicity and decreased efficacy of diuretics and ACE inhibitors
- Increased plasma concentrations and toxicity of lithium and methotrexate
- Elevated risk of gastrointestinal ulceration when combined with corticosteroids
