Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 200mg, 400mg, 600mg, 800mg
- Capsules: 200mg, 400mg
- Oral suspension: 100mg/5mL
- IV solution: 400mg/4mL, 800mg/8mL
Adult Dosing
- Pain relief: 200-400mg every 4-6 hours
- Fever reduction: 200-400mg every 4-6 hours
- Inflammatory diseases: 400-800mg every 6-8 hours
- Maximum daily dose: 2400mg
Pediatric Dosing
- Children 6 months to 12 years: 5-10mg/kg every 6-8 hours
- Infants 3-5 months: 5mg/kg every 6-8 hours
- Infants under 3 months: not recommended
Indications
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Primary dysmenorrhea
- Fever reduction
- Pain relief
Mechanism of Action
- Non-selective COX inhibitor
- Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis
- Reduces inflammation, fever, and pain
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer disease
- Severe heart failure
- Renal failure
- Pregnancy (third trimester)

Drug Interactions
- Warfarin: increased risk of bleeding
- Aspirin: increased risk of GI bleeding
- Beta blockers: decreased antihypertensive effect
- Diuretics: decreased diuretic effect
- Lithium: increased lithium levels
