Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 200mg, 400mg, 600mg
- Suspension: 200mg/5mL
Adult Dosing
- Osteoarthritis: 400-600mg daily
- Rheumatoid arthritis: 400-800mg daily
- Maximum dose: 1200mg daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients under 18 years old
Indications
- Relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis
- Relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
Mechanism of Action
- Selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme
- Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, reducing inflammation and pain
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to benoxaprofen or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer disease
Adverse Reactions
- Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
- Central nervous system: headache, dizziness, drowsiness
- Dermatologic: rash, pruritus, photosensitivity
- Increased risk of renal impairment, especially with prolonged use
Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulants
- Decreased renal function with concomitant use of diuretics
- Increased risk of lithium toxicity
- Reduced effects of furosemide and thiazide diuretics
