Adult Dosing
- Initial: 10mg IM test dose
- Maintenance: 25-50mg IM weekly
- Maximum dose: 50mg IM
Pediatric Dosing

- Use with caution
Indications
- Severe active rheumatoid arthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibits macrophage activation
- Reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production
- Modulates immune response
Contraindications
- Gold allergy
- Severe concurrent infections
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Severe liver or kidney disease
Adverse Reactions
- Mild: injection site reaction
- Moderate: dermatitis
- Severe: blood dyscrasias
- Nephropathy
- Enterocolitis
Drug Interactions
- Penicillamine: increased risk of blood dyscrasias
- Cyclosporine: increased nephrotoxicity risk
- Live vaccines: inactivated by gold therapy
