Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous solution: 100 mg/mL
Adult Dosing
- Not applicable; indicated for pediatric populations with spinal muscular atrophy.
Pediatric Dosing
- Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA): 20 mg/kg to 40 mg/kg intravenously every 4 weeks (investigational/clinical trial dosing).
Indications
- Treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) as an adjunct therapy to nusinersen or risdiplam.
Mechanism of Action
- Selective inhibitor of latent myostatin activation, binding to pro-myostatin and latent myostatin to promote muscle growth and prevent atrophy.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to apitegromab or any of its excipients.
Adverse Reactions
- Upper respiratory tract infection
- Fever (pyrexia)
- Headache
- Injection site reactions
- Nasopharyngitis
Drug Interactions
- No formal drug-interaction studies performed; unlikely to be involved in cytochrome P450 interactions as it is a monoclonal antibody.
