Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 65mg
- Capsules: 65mg
- Oral solution: 65mg/5ml
Adult Dosing
- 50-100mg every 4 hours as needed
- Maximum dose: 600mg per day
- Renal impairment: dose adjustment may be necessary
Pediatric Dosing
- Under 10 years: not recommended
- 10-17 years: 50mg every 4 hours as needed
- Maximum dose: 300mg per day
Indications
- Mild to moderate pain
- Relief of cough
Mechanism of Action
- Opioid agonist
- Mu-receptor binding
- Inhibits pain transmission
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dextropropoxyphene
- Respiratory depression
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

- Respiratory depression
- Skin rash
Drug Interactions
- Alcohol: increased risk of CNS depression
- Opioids: increased risk of respiratory depression
- MAOIs: increased risk of serotonin syndrome
- Sedatives: increased risk of CNS depression
