Forms & Strengths
- Tablets: 200mg, 300mg, 400mg
- Capsules: 200mg, 300mg
- Oral suspension: 100mg/5mL
Adult Dosing
- Initial dose: 200-300mg every 8-12 hours
- Maintenance dose: 400-600mg daily in divided doses
- Maximum dose: 1200mg daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Not recommended for children under 12 years
- For children 12-18 years: follow adult dosing
Indications
- Relief of moderate to severe pain
- Reduction of inflammation and fever
- Treatment of primary dysmenorrhea
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Blockade of pain impulses in the central nervous system
- Anti-inflammatory effects through inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to nifenazone or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer disease
- Severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
Adverse Reactions
- Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
- Headache, dizziness, and drowsiness
- Rash, pruritus, and other skin reactions
- Elevated liver enzymes and renal impairment
Drug Interactions
- Increased risk of bleeding with anticoagulants and antiplatelets
- Enhanced hypoglycemic effect with sulfonylureas
- Reduced diuretic effect with furosemide
- Increased serum lithium levels with concurrent use
