Indications
- Treatment of diseases of the peripheral nervous system (mononeuropathy, polyneuropathy, polyradiculoneuropathy)
- Myasthenia and myasthenic syndrome of various etiologies
- Bulbar paralysis and paresis
- Recovery period after organic CNS lesions accompanied by motor disorders
- Mild to moderate cognitive impairment of various origins (under specific regional approvals)
Mechanism of Action
- Reversible inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase in synapses
- Blocks potassium channels in neuronal and muscle membranes
- Enhances impulse transmission in the peripheral nervous system and neuromuscular junctions
- Stimulates CNS function through moderately pronounced potentiation of synaptic transmission
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ipidacrine or excipients
- Epilepsy
- Vestibular disorders
- Bradycardia and conduction blocks
- Angina pectoris
- Bronchial asthma
- Mechanical obstruction of the intestine or urinary tract
- History of vestibular disorders
- Pregnancy and lactation
Adverse Reactions
- Salivation
- Bradycardia
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Bronchospasm
- Sweating
- Allergic reactions (rash, pruritus)
Drug Interactions
- Enhances sedative effects when used concomitantly with other CNS depressants
- Cholinomimetic effects are intensified when combined with other anticholinesterase agents
- Beta-blockers may increase the risk of severe bradycardia
- Ethanol increases the severity of adverse reactions
