- Non‑allergic (vasomotor) rhinitis
- Adjunct therapy for acute viral rhinosinusitis
- Nasal congestion associated with upper respiratory tract infections
Mechanism of Action

- Anti‑inflammatory action on nasal mucosa reducing edema and hypersecretion
- Mild vasoconstrictive effect improving nasal airflow
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to ritiometan or any formulation excipients
- Severe nasal septum perforation or active epistaxis
- Use in children <6 years not advised
Adverse Reactions
- Transient nasal irritation, burning or stinging sensation
- Nasal dryness or crusting
- Epistaxis (rare, usually mild)
- Headache
- Rare paradoxical increase in nasal congestion
Drug Interactions
- Systemic drug interactions are minimal due to negligible absorption
- Avoid concomitant use of other intranasal vasoconstrictors (e.g., oxymetazoline) to reduce risk of mucosal ischemia
- Concurrent use with intranasal corticosteroids is generally safe and may be synergistic
- Caution when combined with topical antihistamines that may increase local irritation
