Forms & Strengths
- Nasal spray: 0.1% sodium hyaluronate
Adult Dosing
- Nasal spray: 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril 3 to 4 times daily as needed for nasal mucosa hydration
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not formally established; use per clinician discretion for nasal dryness
Indications
- Moisturization of dry or irritated nasal mucosa
- Adjuvant treatment in rhinitis sicca and post-operative nasal care
Mechanism of Action
- Acts as a mucomimetic polymer that retains water molecules on the nasal mucosa
- Forms a protective barrier, reducing transepithelial water loss and supporting local tissue healing
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or any formulation excipients
Adverse Reactions
- Transient nasal stinging or irritation
- Mild sneezing immediately following application
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic pharmacokinetic drug interactions identified due to localized nasal application
