Forms & Strengths
- Oral syrup: 15 mg / 5 mL
- Oral drops: 7.5 mg / mL
- Tablets: 15 mg
Adult Dosing
- Syrup/Tablets: 15 mg to 30 mg orally 3 to 4 times daily
- Maximum daily dose: 120 mg
Pediatric Dosing
- Children 6-12 years: 7.5 mg to 15 mg orally 3 times daily
- Children under 6 years: Not recommended or use pediatric drops per weight-based protocol
Indications
- Symptomatic relief of non-productive (dry) cough
Mechanism of Action
- Acts centrally on the cough center in the medulla oblongata to elevate the threshold for the cough reflex
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to fedrilate or any excipients
- Productive cough where suppression may cause harmful mucus retention
- Severe respiratory depression
- Asthmatic crisis
Adverse Reactions
- Mild drowsiness or sedation
- Nausea and gastrointestinal upset
- Dizziness
- Allergic skin rashes
Drug Interactions
- CNS depressants (alcohol, sedatives, opioids) may potentiate sedative effects
- MAO inhibitors may lead to unpredictable central nervous system interactions
