- Fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis by targeting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or any component of the formulation.
- Hypersensitivity to other quinolones.
Adverse Reactions
- Local burning or discomfort
- Crusting or foreign body sensation
- Itching and conjunctival hyperemia
- Bad taste in the mouth
- Keratopathy/corneal precipitates (specifically in corneal ulcer trials)
