Forms & Strengths
- Ophthalmic Solution: 0.3%
Adult Dosing
- Bacterial conjunctivitis: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) 2 to 3 times daily for 7 to 10 days.
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below the age of 1 year have not been established.
- Children 1 year and older: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) 2 to 3 times daily for 7 to 10 days.
Indications
- Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms.
Mechanism of Action
- Fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lomefloxacin, other quinolones, or any component of the formulation.
Adverse Reactions
- Transient ocular burning or stinging
- Conjunctival redness
- Itching
- Photophobia
- Visual disturbances
Drug Interactions
- Specific systemic drug interactions are unlikely with topical ophthalmic administration due to low systemic absorption.
- Concurrent use of other topical ophthalmic products should be separated by at least 5 minutes.
