Forms & Strengths
- Ophthalmic Solution: 0.3%
Adult Dosing
- External ocular infections: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye 3 times daily.
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been fully established; use with caution.
Indications
- Blepharitis
- Hordeolum
- Dacryocystitis
- Conjunctivitis
- Tarsadenitis
- Keratitis
- Corneal ulcer
- Infection prophylaxis post-ocular surgery
Mechanism of Action
- Fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and transcription.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tosufloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics.
Adverse Reactions
- Eye irritation
- Ocular pruritus
- Conjunctival injection
- Hypersensitivity reactions
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions are expected with topical ophthalmic administration.
