S01EE03
Forms & Strengths
- Ophthalmic solution 0.01%
- Ophthalmic solution 0.03%
- Intracameral implant 10 mcg (Durysta)
Adult Dosing

- Not recommended for pediatric hypotrichosis
Indications
- Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension
- Treatment of hypotrichosis of the eyelashes
Mechanism of Action
- Prostamide analog that selectively mimics endogenous prostamides
- Lowers intraocular pressure by increasing outflow of aqueous humor through both trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathways
- Prolonges the anagen (growth) phase of eyelash hair follicles
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to bimatoprost or any component of the formulation
- Active intraocular inflammation (e.g., iritis, uveitis) for intracameral implant
Adverse Reactions
- Conjunctival hyperemia

- Iris pigmentation darkening (permanent)
- Ocular pruritus, burning, and stinging
- Growth of eyelashes and periorbital fat atrophy (Prostamide-associated orbitopathy)
- Macular edema (including cystoid macular edema)
Drug Interactions
- Multiple topical prostaglandin analogs may paradoxically decrease intraocular pressure-lowering efficacy
- Concomitant use with other ophthalmic drops should be separated by at least 5 minutes
